Inspire is pleased to announce the development of several new areas of service! We have been hard at work, turning innovative ideas into reality and expanding our commitment to individuals with developmental disabilities of all ages. Read on to find out more. And if you have a need that can be met by any of these programs, please let us know!
TBI Structured Day Program
Inspire is working closely with the regional representative for the New York State Department of Health Traumatic Brain Injury Program to develop a structured day program. Meetings are in progress with service coordinators and interested consumers to establish individually designed services at Inspire’s facilities and in the community. Socialization, community activities, skills training in computers, cooking and money management, as well as other areas of interest and assistance have been identified as components of this program. Expected start date in 2008.
High Cognitive Day Program
For individuals facing physical challenges, but who possess a high level of cognition, Inspire will offer a day program with services and opportunities in our facilities, as well as in the community. This group setting will include skills training and educational and community involvement that is similar to our TBI Structured Day Program. Expected start date, early 2008.
Residence Opportunities
We are in the process of developing residences for persons with Traumatic Brain Injury and other disabilities who desire to live in the community. Inspire will be hosting regularly scheduled meetings for families to meet one another and plan for the future. Consumers, family members, caregivers and service coordinators are invited to attend to network and develop relationships with potential housemates. Guest speakers will be invited periodically to provide the latest in information on a variety of residence related topics. Meetings will begin January 2008. Residence development is ongoing.
Looking Ahead…
Stay tuned! A request for proposal has been submitterd for Summer School Break Respite, including day camp opportunities. If you can benefit from this, please contact us!
