Inspire comes to the assistance of countless children and their
families when intervention is needed. Inspire offers evaluative
and outpatient services for children with a variety of developmental
delays or challenges and runs a highly-regarded preschool program

Evaluations
Early
Intervention
Inspire provides evaluation, therapy,
and service coordination through the New
York State Early Intervention Services Program. This program
supports the development of children with special needs from birth
through age 2 1/2 years. Evaluations are provided in the home and
Inspire can be selected as a provider. Call Inspire for assistance
with this process. Inspire believes that help provided at an early
age can increase a child’s potential for learning and development
of skills.
Committee on Preschool Special Education
If you have a child between the ages
of 2 1/2 and kindergarten age and are concerned about his or her
development, you should contact your local school district and register
with your Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE). CPSE
evaluations are available for qualifying children in this age range.
Inspire Kids can be chosen as an evaluation site. Along with the
required psychological and social evaluations, other areas of concern
can be evaluated depending on need, including Learning, Speech,
Vision, Audiology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and more.
The state and county provide the funds for CPSE evaluations. Inspire
can help you with this process.
Preschool Services
Inspire
Kids is dedicated to developing in each child a positive self-image
and a true love of learning. The staff endeavors to achieve this
goal in a multi-age classroom setting, in which basic skills are
taught within an individualized program augmented by age-appropriate
enrichment. A success-oriented atmosphere nurtures this enrichment.
The Inspire Kids’ staff fosters cooperation rather than competition
between peers. The school advocates a child-centered approach to
teaching, developing in each child the qualities and joys of self-reliance,
discipline, initiative, curiosity, and sense of accomplishment.
Such positive qualities and feelings nurture a life-long love of
learning.
Inspire
Kids Preschool
Inspire Kids is a special education
preschool and an evaluation site approved by the New
York State Department of Education. The preschool is located
at Inspire’s 2 Fletcher Street headquarters in Goshen. Each
year, the preschool serves approximately 160 children two-and-a-half
to five years of age who experience a variety of developmental delays
or challenges. Children who have been approved through their local
school district’s Committee on Preschool Special Education
are eligible for services at Inspire Kids. Therapy services are
available on an individual basis according to a child’s Individualized
Education Program (IEP). Some classes offer an integrated setting
where children with special needs and typically developing children
learn together. Programs for both the school year and a six-week
summer session are available.
Golden Apple Preschool
Inspire Kids also runs the Golden Apple
Preschool, which is open to the general public and offers a half-day
inclusionary program for children two-and-a-half to five years of
age. This is an integrated classroom setting in which children with
special needs and typically developing children learn in the classroom
together.
Outpatient Services
Inspire believes in providing quality
person-centered services to meet individual challenges. A host of
outpatient services are available for both children and adults at

Aquatic
Therapy
Inspire’s physical therapists
and physical therapist assistants are fully trained in Aquatic Therapy.
Inspire has the largest therapeutic pool of its kind in Orange County,
New York. It is equipped with both stairs and a chair lift for easy
access. Handrails line the interior perimeter for stability while
exercising. Aquatic Therapy is ideal for patients who have difficulty
supporting their full body weight. The buoyancy of the water allows
more freedom of movement with minimal joint stress, making it ideal
for endurance training. The pool’s therapeutic temperature
of 95 degrees helps promote muscle relaxation and provides pain
relief while exercising.
Audiology
Inpire’s Audiology Department
is staffed by New York State licensed and American Speech-Language
and Hearing Association certified audiologists. The department is
dedicated to the early identification and treatment of hearing disorders
in infants, children, and adults. A broad range of diagnostic and
support services are provided, including: comprehensive hearing
evaluations, newborn hearing screenings including Otoacoustic Emissions
testing (OAE), testing for auditory processing difficulties, hearing
aid consultation and testing, and auditory training for hearing
loss and cochlear implants. Approximately 28 million Americans experience
some degree of hearing loss. Educational information on hearing
loss, hearing aids, and cochlear implants can be obtained from the
American
Academy of Audiology.

patients, and specializes in general dentistry for people with special
needs. Our dental staff is skilled in working with children and
adults who need physical accommodations or emotional support in
order to feel comfortable with dental care. The Dental Department

are accepted.
Occupational
Therapy
Inspire’s Occupational Therapy
Department offers evaluations and treatment programs both in our
Diagnostic and Treatment Center and in some public schools. While
we work with individuals of all ages, we specialize in the pediatric
population. Skilled therapists perform evaluations to assess the
areas of fine motor performance, visual motor and visual perceptual
skills, self-management, and sensory motor integration. Intervention
occurs through one-on-one treatment sessions, consultations with
parents and teachers, and/or the provision of home programs. The
occupational therapy staff can also recommend and provide adaptive
equipment. Educational information about Occupational Therapy can
be obtained from the American
Occupational Therapy Association.
Physical Therapy
Inspire’s Physical Therapy Department
is equally adept at providing evaluations and therapy services for
individuals of all ages. The Physical Therapy Department is staffed
by experienced physical therapists and physical therapist assistants
trained in the treatment of various diagnoses of orthopedic and
neurological origin. Physical therapy sessions can be held in either
Inspire’s therapy rooms or in the heated therapy pool.

within the community to assist families in accessing appropriate
services for people with disabilities in Orange County, New York.
Inspire provides psychological, neuropsychological, and adaptive
behavior assessment and consultation by a licensed psychologist
for the purposes of diagnosis, vocational and educational planning,
and eligibility for specific services. Certified school psychologists
and social workers support children’s testing needs and educational
plans through evaluation, play therapy, parent consultation/counseling,
and trainings/workshops. Services are available for children of
